FAMILY CONNECTS NORTHWEST
Every parent of a newborn living in Watauga, Avery, or Ashe county is eligible for a POSTPARTUM VISIT WITH A REGISTERED NURSE- AT NO COST.
Family Connects provides one to three in-home visits, free of charge, to parents of newborns up to 12 weeks old in Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties. You can expect a visit with a registered nurse around 3 weeks postpartum. Beginning October 1st, families will be offered visits via Telehealth or in person. The Family Connects model brings together Families, Healthcare Providers, and Community Agencies to give babies their best start possible. Research has shown that when families participate in Family Connects, mothers feel less anxious, parents learn about quality child care options and babies need less emergency care at hospitals. Babies, families and the whole community benefits.
It takes a village to raise a healthy child, we are so grateful to be a part of your journey! Participation in Family Connects is recommended by our local pediatricians, obstetricians, and family practitioners. Family Connects does not replace a pediatric visit, but is an additional chance to spend one-on-one time with a healthcare professional in the comfort of your own home. Click on the ‘Registration’ link to register today! You will receive a phone call after the birth of your baby to schedule a time and day that works for you. You can contact Hope Brawley or visit Family Connects Northwest if you have any questions about the program. |
