Educator Resources

Resource Corner

The mission of The Resource Corner is to provide open access to quality early childhood materials in an atmosphere that is welcoming and respectful of all individuals. These materials can be utilized by early educators in child care settings, as well as home visitors and other professionals.  It is also available to the public for families and other child-serving professionals in our area.  We have a warm, family-friendly environment set up so children can explore and play while parents browse for resources to check out.

HOURS OF OPERATION: The Resource Corner is open during the regular hours of The Children’s Council, generally 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please call us at (828)262-5424.

Are you a new teacher looking for information? Are you looking for activities to plan for the children in your care? Or do you have questions about how to deal with your child’s behavior? Are you also a parent of a young child?

Would you like to learn all kinds of wonderful games and activities that you can do with children (infant, toddler, or preschooler) that would help them learn while having loads of fun together?

Well, we have a variety of books and resources available for check out.  We also have a copy, laminating and die-cut machine! But wait, there’s more!  We have lots of materials to help children learn about shapes and sizes, and to help them develop fine motor skills.

FIRST, come by The Children’s Council and look through the many books, theme boxes, theme kits, developmental toys, DVDs, and take-home backpacks that are available to the public. Then, if you think The Resource Corner could be a valuable tool for you, you may sign up to become a member of the Resource Corner Library and check out materials to take home to your little ones. All of these items are developmentally appropriate for your child's age and range from birth to 12-years-old.

SIGN UP! A suggested donation of $5.00 will provide you with a one-year membership for a child care facility or family! Your donation will allow us to add to our collection and to replace worn items. All materials will be on loan for a period of two weeks and may be renewed once.  You will be allowed up to 3 items per checkout, take it with you and return or renew it when the 2 weeks is up.

This program was designed for YOU to provide materials that will enhance learning, development, and family interactions.
We also have textbooks that we rent out for the Early childhood classes at the Caldwell Community College.

All items can be checked out for a 2-week time period.
