Resource Corner

Picture
OUR MISSION: The mission of The Resource Corner is to provide open access to quality early childhood materials in an atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive. These materials can be utilized by early educators in child care settings as well as home visitors and other professionals.  It is also available to the public for families and other child serving professionals in our area.  We have a warm family friendly environment set up so children can explore and play while parents browse for resources to check out.

HOURS OF OPERATION: The Resource Corner will be open during the regular hours of The Children’s Council, generally 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.   If you have any questions, or would like more information, please call us at (828)262-5424.

ARE you a new parent looking for information? Do you wonder about learning stages and what to expect from your children as they grow? Or do you have questions about how to deal with your child’s behavior? Are you an educator of young children?

WOULD you like to learn all kinds of wonderful games and activities that you can do with your baby, toddler, or preschooler that would help them learn – even while having loads of fun together?

Well, we have a variety of books and resources available for check out.  We also have a copy, laminating and die-cut machine! But wait, there’s more!  We have lots of materials to help children learn about shapes and sizes, and to help them develop fine motor skills.

FIRST, come by The Children’s Council and look through the books, crafts and activity kits that are available to you. Then, if you think that The Resource Corner could be a valuable tool for you and your family…

SIGN UP! A suggested donation of $5.00 will provide you with a one-year membership for an entire family! Your donation will allow us to add to our collection and to replace worn items. All materials will be on loan for a period of two weeks, and may be renewed once.  Each family will be allowed as many as two resource books, three parenting books, and two activity kits per loan period.

T
his program was designed for YOU, to provide materials that will enhance learning, development, and family interactions.

Who Needs A Change?

Who Needs a Change? of the High Country
is a diaper bank that supplies diapers to local families in need. We are working to eliminate the diaper need in our community. We believe all children deserve equal care and basic necessities. Our goal is to help improve children's lives continually through community support.  This program provides FREE diapers to families in Watauga County.  It is completely volunteer run and donations come from members of our community. During COVID-19, our diaper bank is operating out of the Hunger & Health Coalition on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 10am-3pm. The Hunger & Health Coalition is located at 141 Health Center Dr. #C Boone, NC 28607. Watauga County residents are still able to receive 2 packs of diapers a month along with wipes and infant formula. If you are interested in holding a diaper drive or making a donation, please contact Matt Powell, Program Coordinator, at matt@thechildrenscouncil.org.
