The Children's Council of Watauga County
is a local nonprofit that works to build a strong foundation for children's learning and development by strengthening families, the early childhood system, and the wider community. We carry out this mission by:
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to develop to his or her fullest potential in a community that supports, nurtures, and empowers children and families.
What people are saying about us:
"The Watauga CCR&R has been a fundamental part of me becoming established in the child care field. They are my go-to place for answers about licensing, required trainings, and support as a professional. I have referred multiple families for help with a variety of needs. I can not do my job without them."
~Christelle M., Early Educator
"I have learned many things about topics such as SIDS, Creative Curriculum, CPR/First Aid, and others. This information has helped make a difference for all children in my care. I think practicing all scenarios helps make children safer. These programs are beneficial for teachers to better themselves, better their classrooms, and better their children! The Children's Council is an excellent resource and support. I have used the laminating machine, the resource buckets for lesson plans, and the die-cuts for classroom resources as well." ~Early Educator, Merry-Land Academy
"I'm a grandparent, not the parent but it helps his development and he is more interested in learning. It is important because it gives opportunities for my grandson to learn and interact with other children and learn new ways to do activities and read books. This is a wonderful program." ~Shirl W., Grandparent
"The Children’s Council is one of our community’s greatest assets! The staff there is wonderful to work with, the programs are targeted to meet community needs, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. What a gift this organization is to our families!" ~ Trish L., Maternity Care Coordinator
