Established in 1977, the Children's Council of Watauga County, Inc. builds upon the strengths of children, families, and educators by investing resources, information, and training toward promoting the future health and success of our greatest community asset: Our Children. All of the programs, from prenatal to age 12, concentrate on child development to prepare children to be ready to succeed in school. Through family support, early literacy programs, child care technical assistance & professional development, and community outreach & collaboration we focus on the importance of each child. We are committed to our vision of a community where every child has the support to live a healthy, happy life. Early education matters to everyone!

How to Apply for 2015-16 Watauga County NC Pre-K
The North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten application period for the 2015-2016 school year will take place April 1st -- May 15th 2015. This collaborative effort led by the Children's Council is designed to reach 4-year-olds in Watauga County, and the following community partners play an instrumental role in this effort: Watauga County Public Schools, Intermountain Head Start, Appalachian State University, and the Department of Social Services.
Your child might qualify to participate in 2015-2016 Watauga County
NC Pre-K if:
• Your child is not currently enrolled in a preschool program
• Your child turns 4 years by August 31, 2015
• Your child has health concerns or special needs
• Your family qualifies for financial assistance
• English is your child's second language
