OPEN POSITION:  DUAL School Lead Teacher

Job Description
DUAL School is a half-day preschool in Boone preparing Spanish-speaking children for kindergarten while simultaneously providing a unique opportunity for English-speaking children to experience a second language.

We are looking for an energetic, qualified, bilingual lead teacher to join our school. In our classroom, native English speakers, native Spanish speakers, and bilingual students learn together in a bilingual and bicultural environment. We use an emergent, bilingual, research-based and research-proven curriculum to support the unique needs of dual language learners.

DUAL Lead Teacher 
  • Part-time, hourly position. $15/hour.
  • Compensation commensurate with education and experience

Responsibilities and Objectives
  • Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to Teaching Strategies/ The Creative Curriculum guidelines 
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units and projects to students
  • Present subject matter to students in both target languages 
  • Prepare student data and activity reports as required by administrators
  • Observe, evaluate, report and record developmental progress of children to families and administrators. 
  • Collaborate with families in relation to creation, implementation of lesson plans and program and individual goals. 
  • Attend professional development opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field and/or Early Childhood Education credential preferred
  • Honors and embraces diversity with a demonstrated respect and sensitivity to the Latin American culture and community
  • Demonstrated success teaching and leading young groups of children
  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Spanish
  • Flexibility and willingness to go above and beyond

Substitute Program
Are you interested in working in child care while making it fit your schedule? Come by the Children’s Council to pick up/fill out an application packet. Application process includes criminal background check and fingerprints which is approximately $40.  Must have High School diploma/GED and be at least 18 years old.
